The World Magnetic Conference takes place at Coiltech Italia 2026 in Pordenone.
Fabrizio Bardelli, Came Research and Development Manager, will discuss the opportunities and limitations of aluminium windings compared to copper ones.
Came presents a comparison between aluminium and copper windings
We at Came will be taking part in the World Magnetic Conference 2026 technical seminar during Coiltech Italia 2026, dedicated to winding and electric motor technologies. During the seminar, Fabrizio Bardelli, Came Research and Development Manager, will give a presentation entitled Aluminium windings: industrial opportunities and process limitations, under the supervision of Gianluca Pegoraro, Came’s technical manager.
Aluminium windings: benefits and limitations compared to copper
Aluminium can reduce material cost by about 20% and weight by about 30%, while retaining performance and efficiency comparable to those of copper in specific projects. However, its lower electrical and thermal conductivity may require larger dimensions and specific connection solutions, making it less suitable for high-power-density applications. For us at Came, the choice between copper and aluminium therefore depends on the performance, costs and specific constraints of each project.
